RTUs combine the classical functions of Supervision and Control with its capacity as programmable controllers (PLCs), communication flexibility, and diagnostic and configuration facilities.

The RTUs offer different Communication Protocols with Control Centers, and also permit communication with other RTUs, or other Intelligent Devices, IEDs, etc., to build Distributed Supervision and Control Systems. ELIOP offers the most standard solutions available, based on the IEC 870-5-101, DNP3, Modbus protocols, etc., besides the GESTEL protocol and protocols developed by other companies.
ELIOPs RTUs offer configuration and diagnostic tools that include a user-friendly graphic Man Machine Interface (MMI) that can be used locally and remotely. These tools are a very important support to optimize the maintenance and to improve the performance of the Systems.

Control Centres
ELIOPs offer for the current generation of Control Systems is based on the SHERPA product as a common core of specific solutions for different sectors: electricity distribution, water, gas, railway traffic control, communication networks, etc.
SHERPA is an open SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) solution, based on UNIX Operating Systems and Windows NT. It has, according to all most advanced software design standards, been built under the Client Server architecture, with the principles of Portability and Object Orientation and written in C++ Language.
The SHERPA solutions can be implemented on different hardware environments, specifically by COMPAQ-Alpha, Hewlett Packard and Intel Personal Computers.
The SHERPA databases are relational, based on ORACLE, to be able to offer a high level of openness and integration facility with specific applications oriented towards all sectors or clients. Because of this, SHERPA permits transparent access to Configuration, Alarm, Historical and Real Time Data Bases.
ELIOP has introduced complete solutions for Control Centers in various sectors, integrating SHERPA with applications developed by itself or by third-party suppliers.
SHERPAs Operator Interface is based on the MOTIF standard and is designed to optimize the ease of use and the operators efficiency. SHERPA offers distributed and very scaled solutions that permit the configuration of Control Centres of various sizes. Facilities like "World Map", zoom, panning, declutering, etc., as well as integration facilities with computer tools of general use are included in this product.
The interconnection of different Control Centers from SHERPA are guaranteed by different protocols, including the ICCP standard.
Metering and Billing
ELIOP has a global and updated solution for the needs of consumption metering and billing, especially orientated towards electrical environments, but also compatible for its use in other services, like gas, water, etc.
The tariff recorders ELITAX-4 provide reliable information needed for the elaboration of the Electrical Bills. There are different kinds of equipments for different tariff requirements: types 2, 3, 4 or 5, Power Scheduled Tariff, Interruptability and Cogeneration.
The FRONTAX recorders are adapted to all the requirements derived from the Spanish legal rules regarding metering in the new deregulated market. They obtain the information of the different models of Electrical Meters by local communications, and realize the massive storage of information and detection of incidents, as well as the transmission of information in accordance with the IEC-870-5-102 standard protocol defined by the System Operator. Furthermore, it incorporates the electronic signature of the information, giving a total guarantee of the information integrity.
ELIOP offers together with the before mentioned equipments, communication solutions adapted to the different necessities from the Consumer as well as the Distribution Companies and Trading Agents.
For the centralized processing of the information provided by these equipments, the range of CENTAX products permits acquisition of all the interesting information, historical management of the information related to consumption and inventories, elaboration of bills, simulations, etc.
In particular, the CENTAX/CS permits to manage the information from thousands of Metering Points, acting like Secondary Concentrator of the Metering System, which provides the acquired information to the Principal Concentrator of the System with appropriate security guarantees supplied by mechanisms of electronic signature and secure file transfers.
Advanced Sensors
The digital signal-processing techniques offer new possibilities to acquire physical information that support the automatic management of complex processes in industry and services. ELIOP has the most advanced kinds of platforms, as well in the field of hardware as in the one of software, to acquire information based upon signal treatment, especially image and sound processing.
The recognition of moving objects, sound processing, footprint recognition, metering of cinematic parameters in vehicles, etc. are some of the incorporated functions in this product family.
Currently, ELIOP offers solutions for advanced sensorisation in two specific areas: Traffic Supervision in Highways and Tunnels, and People Counting Systems. These products, already applied to different sectors, are offering concrete improvements in the management of services and its security and safety.
